Difference between self loading mobile concrete mixers and regular mixer trucks

Almost every time someone from the industry sees Carmix for the first time, right away they call it a mixer, or an offroad mixer. This is only part of the truth. Carmix is much more than just a concrete mixer and in this article, we try to differentiate self-loading mobile concrete mixers from regular concrete mixers and highlight their advantages.

Key difference between the two, is that a self loading mobile mixer will produce concrete as well as transport and pour it, as opposed to a regular mixer which can just transport readymix from point A to point B!

This is a major difference and a totally different concept!

Self loading mobile concrete mixers are equipped with a built-in self-loading mechanism that allows them to load and mix materials on-site without the need for additional equipment or labor. This feature sets them apart from regular concrete mixers that require external equipment to produce concrete and load it inside the mixer truck.

Secondly, self-loading mobile concrete mixers are more versatile than regular concrete mixers. They can mix different types of materials, including cement, sand, and water, in various ratios to produce the desired consistency of concrete. In contrast, regular concrete mixers are limited to just transporting ready concrete!

Thirdly, self-loading mobile concrete mixers are more efficient than regular concrete mixers. They can mix and deliver concrete on-site, reducing the need for multiple trips to the batching plant. This feature saves time and money, making self-loading mobile concrete mixers a popular choice for construction projects with tight deadlines and budgets.

Fourthly, self-loading mobile concrete mixers are safer than regular concrete mixers. They have a lower center of gravity, which reduces the risk of tipping over during transportation. Additionally, the self-loading mechanism eliminates the need for manual labor, reducing the risk of injury to workers.

As can be seen, the key aspect is that a mixer truck is just a mixer truck – truck with a drum that transports whatever is poured into it.

Self loading concrete mixer is a BATCHING PLANT ON WHEELS! It will scoop up the aggregates, weigh everything with it`s precise load cells based weighting system, add water, mix everything to the ready state and then deliver and pour fresh concrete into locations that regular concrete mixers will never be able to reach.

Even if we will be comparing just the “ concrete transportation” features of Carmix and mixer truck, there is a lot to be said in favor of Carmix

Carmix has been designed to operate in a wide range of off-road terrains, including rough terrain, steep inclines, and uneven surfaces. This is made possible by the four-wheel-drive system that provides excellent traction and stability, even in difficult conditions. The four-wheel-drive system ensures that Carmix can navigate through mud, sand, gravel, and rocky terrains, making it ideal for use in remote locations and off-road construction sites. The maximum degree of slope that Carmix can take with a full load of concrete is up to 30 degrees!

Another feature that enhances Carmix’s off-road capabilities is its high ground clearance. The mixer’s undercarriage is designed to provide sufficient clearance, enabling it to drive over obstacles with ease. This feature ensures that Carmix can handle large rocks, tree stumps, and other obstacles that may be encountered on off-road construction sites.

Carmix also has an impressive weight distribution system that enhances its off-road capabilities. The mixer’s weight is evenly distributed, ensuring that it can navigate through uneven surfaces without getting stuck or losing stability. Additionally, the mixer’s compact size makes it ideal for use in narrow and challenging terrains, where larger vehicles may not be able to operate.
Carmix is equipped with reliable Dana Spicer axles that allow a variety of wheel steering modes (Front Wheel steering, CrabWalk and All Wheel steering) – this is a great competitive advantage when navigating around tight spaces or narrow roads.

As a comparison, just have a look at how concrete mixers perform in difficult conditions:

Carmix self loading concrete mixer is so much more than a regular mixer truck, but it is not easy to notice it at a first glance! Both machines have chassis, wheels, drums! You have to look closer to notice a loading shovel, on board water tanks, electronic weighing system components on a Carmix to realize what it really is!
